The Evergreen Gallery Presents Artist Nancy Kuester Whimsical Ceramics
Nancy Kuester's ceramic stoneware creations are made with a touch of whimsy and fold tradition. All of her pieces are fired to temperatures between 2250 and 2350 degrees F in a high fire gas kiln with a reduction atmosphere. This allows the warm natural clay colors to emerge. Using a combination of glazes and raw clay to express a variety of textures, each piece is uniquely obtaining its own personality.
Nancy began experimenting with ceramic sculptures and forms after studying traditional folk art and primitive art. Visiting museums around the U. S. and Europe, she broadened her exposure and love of sculpture and textures in art. With additional inspiration from animals in nature, Nancy feels her stoneware sculptures each have a soul of their own…beginning from their conception deep in her own soul and tempered in the fires of the kiln.
