Lisa Homan-Conger

First Snow

The arts have held a very special meaning for me since I was a young girl. I can remember how I would draw over and over again what my mind’s eye was visualizing. I still have that relentless determination to place on paper or canvas what I see and feel. My graphite drawings enable me to capture the sensitivity of my subject matter. I have noted over the years that the realistic quality of my artwork and this attendant sensitivity ahs resulted in providing me my special place in the art world.

I attended the Kansas City Art Institute and graduated with honors in 1981. After graduation, I found it very difficult to acquire work in my chosen field. Two years of frustration led me to concentrate in areas of the United States that had greater artistic concerns.

In the Spring of 1985, I traveled to Colorado and immediately fell in love with the small town of Evergreen. Evergreen embraced me with her warmth and gentle grandeur and I knew I had found my home.

The thrill of awakening on a brilliant Evergreen morning and going to my studio is simply that – A thrill, those lives I touch when someone decides to collect my work is just another wonderful by-product of my work.
