Heart Necklace

The glass is warmed then taken to a molten liquid state in a propane, oxygen torch. While balancing the heat between hot dripping glass and cooled cracking glass a bead is wound then formed on a mandrel or another rod. The bead can be encased, decorated and reshaped. To prevent cracking from the stress of cooling the bead is then soaked in a lower heat of about 950 degrees for at least an hour then cooled slowly. I like the way glass

reflects light and the mysterious way the colors blend in these smooth little treasures. I like to make small beads that can be made into jewelry. My daughters help design and assemble the beads into jewelry.
