Rick Gentry

Eagle

Rick has worked as a professional artist in the Denver area for 27 years. He began his career in Boulder in advertising design and illustration. From 1980 to 1989, while he worked as a Denver ad agency art director, he received several awards for his work including the Alfie and Addy for his Denver Zoo work. He opened his own freelance studio in 1989 and continued to work for the Denver Zoo where he was involved with advertising, exhibit design and

sculpture design. Rick has produced drawings and sculpture for zoos across the country including San Diego, Toledo, Honolulu, and South Carolina.

Richard's interest in nature has inspired him to create biologically accurate kinetic windbird sculptures in his prime medium of metal. These sculptures are precisely engineered and balanced to react to shifting air currents. The interlocking system keeps the wings secure to the body and allows them to rock freely. Each bird has a rustic patina to give it individual character. Support rods should be inserted at least six inches info firm ground to give the birds a secure perch. Wings are attached to the body tail first.
