Sandy Early

Vase

Sandy creates her unique aspen vases from paper clay. Paper clay is a form of clay that uses paper in the mixture. When the piece is fired in the raku process, the paper burns out and you are left with a light weight piece of pottery. Sandy designs each vase to be a unique creation resembling the aspens found throughout Colorado. Her copper raku pieces explore the color variations possible with raku yet also retain the organic leaf and floral shapes that appeal most to Sandy.

Sandy is an active member of the Denver community lending her time to community services as well as teaching others her craft.

We do not recommend using water in these raku paper clay vases. They are rather soft since they are fired at a fairly low temperature, and therefore are not waterproof. We suggest using a plastic or glass insert with fresh flowers.
